Sleep Apnea and Bed Wetting Is Todays Topic

Problem:

Could sleep apnea be the cause of my son's bed wetting? Jamie, has been wetting the bed since he was a baby and he's 11 now. Could this sleep disorder be causing the bed wetting problem?

Solution:

In researching this problem we came across a really good article by Lyn Mettler, Wet Beds and Sound Sleepers What's the Connection?. In the article Mettler quotes Dr. Mark Stein, chief of psychology and professor of psychiatry and pediatrics at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., who explains "Controlled studies suggest that sleep problems or being a 'deep sleeper' are not the primary cause of wetting". So according to this article, sleep apnea is not likely the cause of bedwetting, though it can exacerbate the problem.
